Do you know what’s behind the Rhona the Unicorn name? In 2019, while walking on Princes Street, a whimsical idea appeared in my mind – an image of a unicorn flying over Edinburgh Castle. Driven by this enchanting vision, I took a leap of faith. I hired an illustrator, and the first book from the series, ‘The Adventures of Rhona The Unicorn in Scotland‘ came to life.
By the way, if you know a child who loves unicorns and Scotland, they will absolutely love it! Find it here.
Starting my Instagram account was initially about promoting my book, but I found myself lost on how to connect with the right audience. Then, in 2022, a spark of inspiration hit me – what if I showcased the real locations featured in the book? Edinburgh happened to be one of those magical places.
Little did I know, this simple idea would turn into something extraordinary. In just one year, Rhona the Unicorn on Instagram gained more than 170K followers.
This proves that to be a content creator today, you don’t always have to travel far, especially if you’re focusing on this type of content.
Living in a place with interesting sights is a big advantage. I discovered you don’t need extensive travels to share interesting stories – sometimes, the best adventures are right in your own city.
This way, you can start making travel content that inspires people to explore your city and support local businesses.
Your city is more than just a place you live in. It has a rich history, culture, and unique features that make it special.
